We are an organisation dedicated to improving mental health in Romania.

We work to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and improve access to specialised services for those who need help.

Let’s bring mental health to schools!

Workshops at Pride 🌈

This month, we talked about mental health within the LGBTQ+ community at Bucharest Pride and Cluj Pride, and there’s another workshop coming up at Timișoara Pride on July 4, starting at 6:30 p.m. The workshop covers topics such as identifying mental health issues, self-help strategies, and finding the right kind of specialised, LGBTQ-friendly support. Participation in Public Debates

This week, we took part in two public debates: “Addiction among children and adolescents,” organised by the Zi de Bine Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Economy, on prevention in schools, the insufficient number of school counselors, the role of family and sports, and the need for treatment centers for substance use disorders; and “Therapy Is Not a Luxury,” organized by USR Youth, which addressed barriers to accessing therapy, the underfunding of psychological services, and their integration as basic healthcare services.

Mental health disorders, the conditions that don’t show up on blood tests

A very helpful initiative is that of the Mental Health for Romania association, called the Map of Professionals. It centralises accredited mental health professionals offering scientifically validated interventions in Romania. Those included on the map are encouraged to offer free or discounted services to vulnerable people, and a free first session to all users of the map.

Tackling the Mental Health Crisis in Bulgarian and Romanian Schools

There are significant gaps in the governmental policies of both countries regarding mental health support for young people. (…) Ioana Tonceanu, an outreach coordinator for Mental Health for Romania, explains that there is a lack of more reliable information and too few professionals who would be able to deal with this situation. Another failing is the fact that although most school specialists have received training on students’ development, they don’t have sufficient knowledge regarding their vulnerabilities.
