I. What does this section represent?

The present section of the website https://mentalhealthforromania.org is aimed at informing you about (1) the way in which we, Mental Health for Romania (MHR), manage your personal data, and (2) your rights guaranteed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/678 and the related domestic legislation applicable on the territory of Romania.

Thus, our team is responsible for protecting and processing your personal data collected while visiting our website. Mental Health for Romania is a non-governmental organisation (NGO), registered in the National Registry of Associations and Foundations with the identification no. 184088.

II. What kind of data do we collect and for what purpose?

All the collected data is obtained via contact and registration forms. They facilitate communication between MHR and those who wish to contact us directly.

At the moment, we are using 4 types of forms:

  1. The volunteer application form,
  2. The form for high school teacher collaborators,
  3. The form for mental health professionals*, and
  4. The general contact form that can be found in the “get involved” section of this website


A limited amount of data is collected via these forms – i.e. your email address, name and location. The purpose of this data collection is to ensure that we can get back to you with adequate answers to your inquiries. All the aforementioned information is stored in our database and/or email inbox. ou can request their deletion by sending us an email at contact@mentalhealthforromania.org.

III. Who can access your data?

By filling in the following form:

1. The volunteer application form

Your data will only be processed and used by our team members to get in touch with you for the purposes of organising an online interview, and later on, for drafting your volunteering agreement.**

2. The form for high school teacher collaborators

Your data will be shared with possible collaborators within the various projects for their good organization. If this eventuality arises, you will be contacted by MHR to give your consent.

3. The form for mental health professionals

If you offer free or low-cost psychological counseling services and register through this form, your information will be shared on our website. Moreover, we reserve the right to contact you for future projects. The data you provide us in this situation will only be used if you give your consent to appear on our map.

4. The general contact form

Your personal data will not be shared with third parties, except for cases when you will request us to do so (e.g. if you want us to put you in contact with one of our collaborating professionals). Besides such circumstances, only our team members will have access to the data you chose to share with us. They will only be used in your interest; for example, to respond to your requests and messages.

Exceptions are made in cases where we are required by law to do otherwise.

Your personal data will NOT be used for marketing purposes!

IV. Do you have any rights over your data once shared?

Yes, of course. We are obliged to respect all the rights protected under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the related domestic legislation. Thus, if you wish to change, correct or have your data completely erased from our database, you can request this in writing by sending us an email at contact@mentalhealthforromania.org.

V. For how long are we storing your data?

This depends on the necessity and your authorization. However, all your data will be erased following the completion date of a project and upon any joint agreement between you – as a collaborator – and us.

* by this we mean psychologists who offer free or reduced services. the information from this form can be shared on our website as well as within the mental health services centralization project.

** Mindful of the fact that the legal age for the conclusion of any contractual agreement on the territory of Romania (in the absence of express authorization from a legal guardian) is 16 years old, those below this age will not be contacted. Furthermore, the personal data of the concerned individuals will be erased automatically. For those who want to get in touch with us (regardless of age) please use the general contact form.
